Japanese people appreciate foreigners who make efforts to learn and speak some of the Japanese business phrases. If you can manage to learn a few of them, you would surely be able to do business in Japan successfully and easily.

Here is a list of Japanese business phrases that are commonly used during business meetings and conferences.

Ohayogozaimasu - means 'Good morning' It is usually used before 10 am

'Konnichiwa' - means 'Good day'. You can use it between 10 am and 6 pm.

'Kombanwa' - means 'Good evening' Say it when you meet people after 6 pm.

'Watashi no namae John –means, My name is John

'Hajimemashite' - means 'Hello, I am pleased to meet you. Use this phrase when you meet someone for the very first time.

'Domo arigato gozaimashita' – means 'Thank you. Say it at the end of the day or a business event.

'Onegaishimasu'-means 'If you please'

'Gochisosama deshita' – use it for saying 'Thank you' to your host at the bar or a restaurant.

'Doitashimashite' - means 'It's my pleasure.' If your Japanese colleague or client says 'Gochisosama deshita' you can say this Japanese language phrase in exchange.

'Gomen nasai.' means 'Sorry'

'Sumimasen.' - means 'Excuse me.

If you can’t learn Japanese language, learn these few phrases. They will help you get through everyday life and business meetings in Japan.
